Dear Survivor

As a fellow survivor and thriver, I want you to know
you are not alone.

I want to share some thoughts and experiences with
you that will hopefully guide you, answer questions,
give you inspiration and maybe even help calm the
fear.

The number one thing I want you to take away from this and truly believe is Cancer is NOT a death sentence. Many, many, many people not only survive this disease but they go on to lead fuller lives filled with new meaning.

Now is the time to reacquaint yourself with you. With who you WANT to be. It’s a time to delve into finding or throwing yourself into something you love. Whether it’s an organization, scrapbooking, boating, writing, painting, pottery or coloring in a coloring book. I urge you to try different things and find you something that brings you pleasure and happiness.

Our fears right now will undoubtedly be focused on our families, our children. Take time to focus on what you LOVE to DO.

Your family is watching you for cues as to how to act and feel. They need to know it’s safe to still continue to enjoy life. They need to see you having fun and enjoying life.

There will be days when you feel horrible. There will be days when you are scared. It’s totally normal and to be expected. Acknowledge that it is okay. What you are feeling is normal. Let’s face it, this is not a “normal” situation. There are many stories we’ve heard, movies we’ve watched and possibly relatives we’ve watched deal with cancer.

I am here to share hope. I really understand the deepest of your fears. I have been there and survived four times. Yes, BALD four times. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!!

If I haven’t already spoken to you personally, email me. I will respond. Tell me your story, your fears and your hopes. I will hear you.

Surviving and Thriving
